UNDER ARMOUR AMBASSADOR TATJANA SCHOENMAKER RETAINS COMMONWEALTH TITLE TO TAKE GOLD IN THE 200M BREASTSTROKE

South Africa – 31 July 2022. South African swimming sensation and Under Armour Ambassador Tatjana Schoenmaker further solidified her legacy as one of the best swimmers South Africa has produced by successfully retaining her 200m breaststroke title at the 2022 Commonwealth games.
The 200m world record-holder was in top form edging out Jenna Strauch from Australia and fellow South African swimmer Kaylene Corbett with the time of 2:21.92 to secure her third Commonwealth Gold medal to date. The 25-year-old produced a masterclass in the pool following on from her world record-breaking performance at the Tokyo Olympics last year.
"We are extremely proud of Tatjana, she showed immense tenacity to bring the gold home for SA. This win is particularly special, considering the mental strength needed following her sensational performance in Tokyo.", says Under Armour South Africa MD Darren Cooke.
Schoenmaker went into the games as one of South Africa's top medal prospect and didn't disappoint. Team SA are currently sitting on five medals four days into the games and will be eager to better their 2018 showing, where the team produced 37 medals. The South African squad has, for the first time in history, more female than male representatives and is the most transformed squad in the country's history at a multi-code Games.
