Surfing | The International GromSearch Final Is Heading To Hossegor

Rip Curl is stoked to announce that this year’s International GromSearch Final, proudly covered by Sun Bum, will take place in Hossegor, France, from November 4th to 8th, 2025. Since crowning the 2024 champions in Bali last November, the GromSearch series has spanned the globe with events in North America, Australia, Europe, Indonesia, Brazil, and South Africa, uncovering the best junior surfing talent from around the world. Once all national winners have been crowned, they will make their way to Hossegor, a region in the south of France famous for its powerful, world-class beach breaks and consistent swells, to compete for the coveted International Champion title. Global Junior Talent Set for France

“We’re so excited to bring the world’s best groms to Hossegor for this year’s International Final,” said James Taylor, Rip Curl’s General Manager of Marketing. “We’ve scoured the globe to find our finalists, and the level of surfing from this next generation is truly mind-blowing. GromSearch has long been a launching pad for World Champions, Olympians, and Championship Tour athletes, and we can’t wait to see who comes out on top this year.”

The Next Generation of Champions

The event will feature 16 competitors, eight female and eight male, representing Australia, Brazil, Argentina, Europe, Indonesia, the United States, South Africa, and beyond. They will be joined by two additional surfers, one male and one female, selected as wildcards through the 10-day #GromSearchOnline virtual competition running from October 1st. Adding further excitement to the week, recently crowned World Surfing Champion Molly Picklum and Championship Tour surfer Crosby Colapinto will also be heading to Hossegor to join the action.

A Proven Pathway in Surfing

Since its launch in 1999, the GromSearch series has provided a platform for more than 40,000 surfers aged 16 and under, and its alumni list is a who’s who of world surfing. Past winners include WSL World Champions Caitlin Simmers, Caroline Marks, and Gabriel Medina, alongside notable Championship Tour surfers such as Erin Brooks, Brisa Hennessy, Samuel Pupo, Leonardo Fioravanti, Tatiana Weston-Webb, Owen Wright, and free-surfing icon Mason Ho. The impact of the series is undeniable: over 60% of current CT athletes are former GromSearch winners, five of the six Olympic surfing medalists over the past two Games competed in GromSearch, and the last 18 WSL Women’s World Titles have all been claimed by surfers who were once GromSearch finalists.

Fans around the world can tune in to watch the champions crowned, with Finals Day to be broadcast live at ripcurl.com, and can follow all the updates on Rip Curl’s Instagram. The Rip Curl International GromSearch is proudly covered by Sun Bum, powered by Citroën, and supported by FCS.
