Royal St Andrews SA Open Championships Presented by Rip Curl Starts In Port Alfred

• 60th Anniversary of the event
• Good swell on the cards
• Last year's winners will defend their titles
The SA Open Championships is the latest and most exciting Port Alfred Easter Festival addition. Now in its 60th year, this prestigious championship event has officially become part of the festival's lineup, bringing even more energy to the Easter weekend.
The competition will start at 7:30 with Open Men's Round One. The full schedule for tomorrow's surfing can be found on LiveHeats Here.
Making Their Mark
The SA Open Championships Tournament has a long history of standout performances. Last year, Anastasia Venter won the Women's title, and Tom Lindhorst held onto his Men's title. Buffalo City Surfriders took the President's Cup, and Tyrell Johnson earned Surfer of the Contest. All of these surfers are here to defend their titles and awards.
Strong Surf, Strong Safety
This year's contest brings together top surfers from across the country. District teams include Cape Town, Cape Winelands, Eden, Nelson Mandela Bay, Buffalo City, Ugu, eThekwini, and Ilembe. Expect tight heats and strong performances.
NSRI Station 11
The NSRI Station 11 team will manage safety throughout the event. Their presence means competitors and spectators can focus on the action.
Port Alfred Easter Festival
The Royal St Andrews SA Open Championship contest is part of the 2025 Port Alfred Easter Festival. Surfing and music are the fest's anchor events.
The gates open at 3 p.m., and tickets are available on Howler for R350 / night. All tickets are here: HOWLER. The Bands Innie Bush music fest is a fundraiser for NSRI Station 11, and a portion of the proceeds go to NSRI. It's a great cause and worth supporting.
