Entries Filling Up For Rip Curl GromSearch and Rip Curl Cup in Port Alfred

Port Alfred - the Rip Curl GromSearch presented by Royal St Andrews Hotel and supported by Sea Harvest has limited entries this year and is filling up fast. It is encouraging to see the younger age groups fill up quickly, and this tournament will be a sold-out event this year.

Similarly, the Rip Curl Cup presented by the Royal St Andrews Hotel has limited entries this year and will fill up fairly quickly. With R22k first prize in both the Boys and Girls and a total of R79k prize money, this will be a popular tournament, with locals and visiting surfers wanting a piece of the action.

In 2024, the Rip Curl Cup was won by Dan Emslie (EL) and Louise Lepront (Scottburgh), and their prizemoney went straight into their international surfing campaigns.

Both events will have good media coverage. The Rip Curl GromSearch and the Rip Curl Cup will have live streaming, and form part of the Port Alfred Easter Festival Supersport Show, which will be broadcast after the event. These contests can also be tracked via the LiveHeats app.

International GromSearch

Surfers are invited to enter as soon as convenient to get a slot in these events. The Rip Curl GromSearch has U12, U14, U16 and U18 Girls and Boys divisions. The U16 division is the prime division, and the winners of this division, decided from three out of four results, will win an entry into the Rip Curl International GromSearch Final, which will be held in September.

Entries are open HERE.

Rip Curl Cup

The Rip Curl Cup, presented by the Royal St Andrews Hotel, has two divisions: Open Men and Open Women. With R22k as the first prize for both divisions and 2nd, 3rd and 4th prizes, some committed surfing will go down at this contest, as last year.

Entries are open HERE.

The Rip Curl GromSearch and the Rip Curl Cup are both presented by the Royal St Andrews Hotel, and are Surfing South Africa events, supported by Sea Harvest.
