The men’s finalists were decided at the Curro Centre Court Series, an ITF $15,000 event in Hillcrest on Tuesday, and it will be a battle between South Africa’s Philip Henning and Namibia’s Connor Van Schalkwyk.
In the first men's semifinal, second-seeded Philip Henning faced his compatriot, the sixth seed Alec Beckley, in a grueling contest. After dropping the first set 4-6, Henning rallied to take the second set 6-2. The decisive third set saw Henning outlast Beckley, clinching the match 6-4 after a marathon battle lasting 2 hours and 15 minutes.
The other semifinal featured qualifier Connor Van Schalkwyk against South Africa's rising star Devin Badenhorst. Van Schalkwyk ended Badenhorst’s impressive run, taking the first set 6-4 and holding his nerve in a tightly contested second set, ultimately winning the tiebreak 7-6(4).
The women’s final will feature fifth seed Matilde Mariani of Italy and Denmark’s Elena Jamshidi.
