South African tennis star Lloyd Harris stunned Italian world No.19 Lorenzo Musetti in the first round of the Australian Open on Monday.

Harris won a thrilling five-set match in three hours and 48 minutes, 6-4, 6-1, 6-7 (0/7), 2-6, 7-6 (10/4).

This is a significant victory for Harris, who has struggled recently after missing the second half of the 2022 season due to a wrist injury.

Prior to the Australian Open, the former world No 31 was ranked No 186 in the world, and he entered the event on a protected ranking due to his injury.

The 25-year-old will next face world No. 78 Marton Fucsovics of Hungary, who defeated Argentina's Federico Coria 4-6, 7-5, 2-6, 7-6 (8/6), 6-2.
