The ITF World Tennis Masters Tour 35-40-45 World Team Championships has concluded in Portugal. A total of 119 teams took part across the 35, 40 and 45 age categories for both men and women, with 65 men’s teams and 54 women’s teams involved.

Team South Africa results:

  • M35 – 14 out of 19 countries
  • W35 – 8 out of 4 countries
  • M40 – 9 out of 22 countries
  • W40 – 14 out of 19 countries
  • M45 – 17 out of 23 countries
  • W45 – 15 out of 21 countries

Congratulations to South Africa’s Kim Peters who clinched a bronze medal in the 35+ individual age group category.

Peters also claimed a bronze medal with her mixed doubles partner Chad Brown in the 35+ age group after losing in the semi final round.

Finally, Peters achieved a silver medal for South Africa in the ladies doubles with her partner, Karyan Hambridge after falling short in the final hurdle.

This event is the first to take place under its new name; ITF World Tennis Masters Tour, following a re-brand of ‘ITF Seniors’ in late July as part of the ITF’s overarching strategic goal to increase participation in tennis.

The new name better reflects the nature and quality of the competition across all age groups from 30 – 90+, in particular recognising its growing appeal to audiences seeking competitive opportunities in the 30-45 age categories.
