ITF World Tennis Masters: Team SA results

 

The ITF World Tennis Masters Tour Team & Individual World Champs for the 30-50+ age groups recently concluded in Manavgat, Turkey. The event saw 619 players in 160 teams from 33 countries take part in the team event in the first week. South Africa had a total of 32 players who participated in 9 teams, with the 30+ age group participating in the team event for the first time.

The South African teams faced tough group stages, with most drawing 1 of the top seeds on the first day of competition. Despite this, the ladies 30+ team were the best-performing South African team, ending 4th overall and earning themselves a medal.

  • W30 Cup - 4/7
  • M35 Italia Cup - 12/16
  • W40 Young Cup - 20/20
  • M40 Toby Trabert Cup - 15/17
  • W45 Margaret Court Cup - 13/18
  • M45 Dubler Cup - 17/18
  • W50 Maria Esther Bueno Cup - 12/19
  • M50 Fred Perry Cup - 22/23

After the team event, some of the players stayed on for the individual tournaments. Notably, Diederik Prinsloo and Andre Janse van Rensburg made it to the quarter-finals of the MD35+ event, while Diederik Prinsloo and Alexandra Dreyer made it to the quarter-finals of the XD35+ event.

Overall, the South African teams put on a good showing at the ITF World Tennis Masters Tour Team & Individual World Champs, and the country is proud of all the players who represented them at the event.
