FS Growthpoint Super 8 concludes

 

Mangaung, Free State - The Free State Growthpoint Super 8 Junior Tennis Tournament concluded today, Wednesday, at the Free State Tennis Stadium in Mangaung. The tournament saw some of the country's most promising junior tennis players competing for the title in their respective categories.

In the men's category, fourth seed Rudiger Dusselberg of Johannesburg defeated 14th seed Daniel Watson from KwaZulu-Natal with a comfortable score of 6-1, 6-1 to lift the title.

Top seed Kaitlyn Ramduth (KwaZulu-Natal) emerged victorious against 16th seed Allegra van der Walt (North-West) with a 6-3, 6-2 to win the women’s trophy.

In the Boys under-16, 18th seed Maksim Mihic of Johannesburg pulled off a stunning upset, defeating top seed Pieter Kotzé from the Winelands region with a 6-4, 7-6(4) victory.

Jahnie van Zyl of North-West Province defeated fifth seed Almé van Schalkwyk of the City of Johannesburg 6-0, 7-5 in the Girls under-16 category.

We are proud to have hosted another successful edition of the Growthpoint Super 8 Junior Tennis Tournament. The tournament showcased some of the best junior tennis talent in the country and we congratulate all the winners for their outstanding performances.

[1] Lily Haley (KZN) def. [4] Lika Claassens (FS) 6-0, 6-2

The event concluded on a high note, with four of the semi-finalists, Daniel Watson, Reuben de Klerk, Willem de Waal, and Rudiger Dusselberg, competing in an exhibition match against South African tennis sensation and former world No.12 junior, Khololwam Montsi.

The players defeated Montsi 16-14 to win a cash prize of R2000.
