World Rugby has published the ranking permutations for this week's matches in Fiji and Colombia.
Permutation highlights:
- Fiji will climb to a new high of 14th if they beat Japan for the first time on Friday with a win sufficient to lift them above Russia.
- They can go no higher as a victory by more than 15 points would still leave them trailing Spain above by 2.87 rating points.
- Japan cannot fall from 11th place in defeat but could see their advantage over South Africa below slashed from 4.5 points to 1.96 points.
- The Sakura 15s are unable to improve their position with victory in the first of two meetings with Fijiana over the next week as their maximum gain is 0.46 points. This would still leave them 3.40 points behind Ireland.
- Fiji will remain in 15th even with a heavy defeat in Suva.
- Colombia will become the higher ranked of the two nations if they beat Trinidad and Tobago by more than 15 points on Saturday, climbing two places to 26th with their visitors directly beneath them in a new low position.
- A smaller margin of victory will still see Colombia climb one to 27th with Trinidad and Tobago falling one to 26th.
- The Scarletts, as Trinidad and Tobago women are known, will climb above Portugal if they beat Colombia and condemn their hosts to a one-place fall with Tonga the beneficiaries.
