Third South Africa and Ireland international Indoor Hockey test ends in another draw
International Indoor Hockey | Run of draws continues in Cape Town
WOMEN – THIRD TEST - South Africa vs. Ireland
After two remarkable draws in the opening two games, South Africa and Ireland met for the third time in Cape Town tonight in front of a packed audience. Both teams were hoping for the opportunity to secure the first win of the series. South Africa started by celebrating Cheree Greyvenstein’s 50th test cap
In a series that has battled for goals South Africa were delighted to go 1-0 up in the early exchanges as they led through Kayla de Waal. They were however disappointed as they conceded the equalizer to Orla Macken. And it remained 1-1 at the half-time break, a score all too familiar with this series.
Tegan Fourie showed why she has a remarkable goal scoring record when she easily dispatched a penalty stroke to re-establish the lead for the hosts. Once again they were pegged back by a Chloe Brown penalty corner before Kayla de Waal scored from a field goal to once again establish a one goal lead for South Africa.
Once again though the South Africans were frustrated as they conceded a penalty stroke to Orla Fox and then had to endure a spell of 2 players in the sin bin as they received back-to-back yellow cards. Despite the massive amount of excitement remarkably the game ended in a draw, the third in a row.
