South Africa and Namibia play to another draw in mens Hockey Indoor tests
MEN – SECOND TEST – South Africa vs. Namibia
The men also drew their opening test when Namibia fought from 2-0 down to level the match. Both sides will represent Africa at the FIH Hockey Indoor World Cup in February in Pretoria so the tournament was assisting the players and coaches in preparing for the tournament.
South Africa opened the scoring through a tight angled finish from Mustapha Cassiem and they quickly sought to add to the scoring, but were pegged back before the end of the first quarter by Ernest Jacobs just before the hooter.
Chad Futcher made it 2-1 after an inventive pass from Steven Paulo. They made it 3-1 in the 25th minute through Mustapha Cassiem with another goal from a crazy angle. But again the Namibians fought back scoring twice in 30 seconds through Liam Hermanus to level matters.
South Africa then found themselves behind when JP Britz made it 4-3 but Mustapha Cassiem levelled with his 49th goal for the country with a deflection past the keeper. But once again the South Africans trailed through a diving deflection from Liam Hermanus. Ryan Julius took the touch, turned and finished to salvage a draw for the hosts and set up the series for its next game tomorrow!
