SA Hockey announces Womens Indoor Squad for Namibia tests

SPAR South Africa named for the African Hockey Indoor Test Series

The hockey world’s eyes will diverge on Africa for the FIH Indoor Hockey World Cup 2023 taking place in South Africa in February. The tournament offers the first opportunity for two African teams to compete and those two are ramping up their preparation with a five-match test series in Windhoek at the end of the month.

Jessica O’Connor, the most capped indoor hockey player, will continue to add to her incredible portfolio of test caps and is joined by Jamie Southgate in the highly experienced column. Robyn Johnson and Celia Seerane will have the opportunity to earn their 50th test caps while Tegan Fourie will be on the lookout for goal number 50 on the International stage. The stars of the Ireland tour earlier this year are included with Jess Lardant, Kayla de Waal and Edith Molikoe all central to the South African challenge.

On the other end of the spectrum Fourie’s younger sister Cerian will have her chance to earn her first test cap along with Kirsty Adams and Laiken Brisset. Coach Lennie Botha will be using this series along with a further series against Ireland to fine tune the squad that will take on the rest of the World in Pretoria.
