Hockey | SA Under 21 Hockey squads named for IPT in Johannesburg
The South African Hockey Association has announced the South Africa Under 21 Sides for the IPT in Johannesburg in September.
The mens and womens team traditionally take one of the spots in the A Section.
Starting with the womens team, the SA U21 are packed with power including all four eligible Olympians. Taheera Augousti, Paris-Gail Isaacs, Ntsopa Mokoena and Kayla Swarts will all return from Paris and take up a place in Cindy Botha’s side. There are a few individuals from the previous cycle included again like Jenna Blaauw and Teshawn de la Rey.
The Mens team selected by coach Grant Elliott and his selectors will rely on the experience of Damien Knott, Jaydon Brooker, Gianluca Virissimo and Lerou Dithlakanyane, all who featured in the team that did so well in Malaysia in 2023.
The SA Hockey IPT is South Africa’s flagship provincial tournament and will take place at St Stithians. Broadcast details will be shared in due course.
