Golf | BSI Order of Merit Winners 2024
After a long Academy season, which started in January, we congratulate the worthy winners of our Premier Division and Junior Academy Order of Merits.
In our Premier Division, Jacques van der Merwe defended his title from last year with 156,750 points from just 24 tournament rounds. Jacques’ round of 64 from 2 weeks ago proved just enough to overtake Adrian Andrade (148,724 points) for the title, winning by just 8,026 points. Gilbert Chalwe rounds off the top 3 on 131,524 points.

Jacques was part of our graduating PGA Diploma class of 2024 and having already turned professional, will now set his sights on a full-time playing career. T14 in last week’s Big Easy Tour event shows he has every chance of success. Adrian and Gilbert will both be back next year along with a talented group of players bidding for the 2025 Premier Order of Merit title.
In our Junior Academy, Eric Ncube won the coveted Order of Merit with 120,940 points. In 2nd place was Mongi Masuku on 71,932, with Connor Olfsen in 3rd place with 65,159 points.

Eric is matriculating this year and is a successful graduate of our bursary program. Over the last 5 years we have partnered with the South African Golf Development Board and various members of Eric’s home club Wanderers GC to put him through high school and develop him into a very accomplished player. Eric now aims to continue his golf development and studies at BSI by joining our PGA Diploma program. We are committed to fund a fair portion of the fees, and any additional funding towards this young man’s education will be greatly appreciated.
