Beaufort West Cricket Club on Saturday recorded a ground breaking trophy victory for cricket in the Central Karoo.

Beaufort West (219/9) defeated Sussex ‘B’ (218 all out) in a pulsating Reserve Division 2 final at the REC Ground by one wicket with one ball to spare.

The big hero for Beaufort West was Carlton Rasmus who scored a magnificent unbeaten 111* (85 balls; 7x6; 7x4) to take his team over the line.

For Sussex it was a heart-braking defeat after they scored a competitive 218.  The D’Almeida based club was also the runners-up in the Premier League.
