Parade of Nations Launches ICF Canoe Ocean Racing World Champs
DURBAN – A colourful parade on the Durban Point Promenade of all the paddlers taking part in the event launched the 2025 ICF Canoe Ocean Racing World Championships on Thursday afternoon.

More than 500 paddlers from more than 30 nations will be taking part in the two days of racing on Saturday and Sunday, and the event was launched with the Parade of Nations, which saw a procession of competitors and officials moving from the race headquarters at the Durban Undersea Club to uShaka Marine World for the Opening Ceremony.
The function was opened by Ms Kim Pople, the President of PaddleSport South Africa, with Mr Mntomuhle Khawula, the MEC for Sport, Arts and Culture in KwaZulu-Natal, and Cllr Cheryl Sisoka, the Whip of Community Services Committee, welcoming the athletes before the President of the International Canoe Federation, Mr Thomas Konietzko declared the event open.
