The RMB VLC National Sprints Regatta takes place at Victoria Lake in Germiston on 28 and 29 January 2023. This will be the 115th iteration of the regatta.

This regatta brings together athletes from around the country, from U14 juniors through to seniors and masters. A highlight will be the presence of the RMB National Squad, who have their eye on the Olympic qualifiers later this year.
“It also kicks off an important year for our masters rowers, who look forward to the World Rowing Masters Regatta 2023 that has been awarded to South Africa and will take place in September 2023 at Roodeplaat Dam,” says RMB’s Head of Brand
Lucy Lightfoot.

The RMB VLC National Sprints Regatta is a 1 000-metre course, which is on the shorter side as rowing courses go. This makes for exciting racing, both for athletes and spectators.
“The breadth of talent that we see lined up for the RMB National Sprints Regatta is encouraging,” says Lightfoot. “It represents a strong pipeline of athletes in all age groups, which bodes well for the sustainability of rowing in South Africa. We are also excited to see our masters rowers in action in preparation of the World Rowing Masters Regatta, which is certain to have a positive impact on the local economy and community.”

If you want to support the rowing community, see the RMB National Squad in action, or are just looking for a fun day out with friends and family, make your way to Victoria Lake Club in Germiston on 28 and 29 January. There will be plenty of food stalls to keep energy levels high.
