Monday, 1 August 2022 - South Africa's swimmers added three more medals to the rapidly increasing Team SA haul at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham on Monday.

Pieter Coetzé claimed his second medal of the Games, adding the 50m backstroke silver to his 100m backstroke gold, while Erin Gallagher claimed silver in the 50m butterfly and Para-swimmer Christian Sadie bronze in the S7 50m freestyle.

Team SA started Monday’s fourth day of competition with six medals at the 2022 Commonwealth Games – four golds, one silver and one bronze. Michaela Whitebooi won judo gold (48kg) and gymnast Caitlin Rooskrantz won bronze in the women’s uneven bars.
