Four Eastern Cape districts recently hosted district qualifiers for the RCS Rising Star Tennis School Championships. Nearly 50 boys and girls Primary School teams battled it out for coveted spots in the provincial finals.

Stirling Primary continued their remarkable dominance in the Buffalo City district, claiming their fifth consecutive championship sweep. They secured victories in both the boys' and girls' categories, leaving Selborne Primary A and Stirling Primary B trailing in second and third place (boys) and Stirling Primary B and Clarendon Park Primary in second and third (girls) respectively.

Cradock Primary displayed similar dominance in the Joe Gqabi district, by winning both the boys' and girls' titles. Aliwal North A teams in both categories put up a valiant effort, ultimately finishing as runners-up in tightly contested matches.

Meanwhile, the Nelson Mandela Bay district witnessed Advantage Academy A triumphing in the boys' category, securing their place in the provincial finals. Clarendon Primary A and Grey Junior School followed close behind in second and third place. The girls' division saw Collegiate School emerge victorious, with Clarendon Primary School securing the second place.

The expansive Sarah Baartman district necessitated two separate events. In the first, Port Alfred A boys secured the top spot, with both Port Alfred A and Kenton Ikamvalesizwe A teams claiming second and third place, respectively. Victoria Primary narrowly edged out DSG, Makhanda, in a nail-biting girls' category, booking their provincial spot.

The second Sarah Baartman district event saw Victory Christian School A triumph in the boys' division, followed by Handhaaf A and Kirkwood in second and third. Handhaaf girls reigned supreme in their category, with Kirkwood and Victory Christian School girls taking second and third place respectively.

The winning teams will advance to the Eastern Cape provincial finals, which will be held on 14-15 September 2024, in Makhanda.
