South African tennis player, Lloyd Harris, has reached the quarterfinals of a tour-level tournament for the first time since October 2021 after he triumphed 7-6(5), 6-3 in an all-qualifier clash against Roman Safiullin at the Mallorca ATP 250 event in Spain on Wednesday.

Harris, who had to endure an extended absence from the circuit in the latter half of 2022 due to wrist surgery, has made a remarkable comeback. The Capetonian came through the qualifying rounds to secure a spot in the main draw of the ATP 250-level grass court tournament, which acts as a preparatory event leading up to Wimbledon.

The 24-year-old South African will continue his journey in the tournament as he faces Pavel Kotov in the quarterfinals on Thursday.

In addition to his singles success, Harris, partnering with Yuki Bhambri of India, has also secured a spot in the doubles quarterfinals. The duo defeated Alexander Erler and Lucas Miedler with a commanding 6-3, 6-2 victory. Today, Harris and Bhambri will face the fourth-seeded pair of Marcel Granollers and Horacio Zeballos in a doubles quarterfinal clash.
