Team SA started Monday’s fourth day of competition with six medals at the 2022 Commonwealth Games – four golds, one silver and one bronze. Michaela Whitebooi won judo gold (48kg) and gymnast Caitlin Rooskrantz won bronze in the women’s uneven bars.

Here is how Team SA performed on Monday.

BEACH VOLLEYBALL
Men’s Pool B: Grant Goldschmidt and Leo Williams lost 2-0 (21-12, 21-12) to Australia (McHugh, Burnett)

GYMNASTICS
Women’s Vault final: Naveen Daries finished seventh with a total of 12.500 points
Women’s Uneven bars final: BRONZE! Caitlin Rooskrantz won the bronze medal with 13.433 points. Her difficulty level was 5.800 and her execution score was 7.633

HOCKEY
Men’s Pool A: South Africa 5 Scotland 4
South Africa won a thrilling match 5-4 after having to come from 4-3 down heading into the final quarter. Matthew Guise-Brown, Dayaan Cassiem, Taine Paton, Nic Spooner and Nqobile Ntuli all got onto the scoresheet in a memorable win. South Africa had led 2-0 after two quarters, but Scotland dominated the third quarter, scoring four times. However, the South Africans dug deep to turn the match around in the final quarter.

LAWN BOWLS
Women’s B6-B8 Para-pairs, semi-finals: Desiree Levin, Victoria van der Merwe lost 19-12 to Australia. The Australians were never behind, although SA picked up five shots at the penultimate end to close to 18-12. SA will take on England for the bronze medal on Wednesday

Women’s Fours, semi-finals: Johanna Snyman, Esme Kruger, Bridgit Calitz and Thabelo Muvhango beat Fiji 16-14. They came from 14-10 down with two ends to play and picked up three shots on the final end. They play for gold tomorrow

Para Mixed Pairs, Section A, Round 2: Tracy Smith, Thomas Smith, Hermanus Scholtz and Johanna van Rooyen lost 15-8 to Wales

NETBALL
Pool A: South Africa 49 Australia 74
South Africa had never beaten Australia in 41 internationals and the average score historically had been 68-38, a 30-point margin. Here it was 25 points as South Africa fought hard against the world No1s. The quarter scores were 11-19, 13-21, 13-16 and 12-18. It’s the second defeat for South Africa in three games

SWIMMING
Men’s 50m breaststroke, heats: Michael Houlie tied with breaststroke great Adam Peaty in the final heat in 27.10 and they were joint fastest into the semi-finals. Brenden Crawford finished fourth in his heat in 27.77 and qualified ninth for the semi-finals

Men’s 100m butterfly, heats: Chad Le Clos finished fourth in his heat in 52.65 and qualified ninth fastest into the semi-finals. Matt Sates finished third and Andrew Ross sixth in their heat in 54.02 and 54.26. Sates was 14th into the semis and Ross (18th) misses out

Women’s 100m freestyle, heats: Aimee Canny won her heat in 55.27, while Emma Chelius finished fourth (55.63), and Erin Gallagher (56.10) fifth in their heat. All three qualified for the semi-finals in fourth, ninth and 13th positions, respectively

Women’s 100m breaststroke, heats: 50m gold medallist Lara van Niekerk won her heat in 1:06.40, the 200m gold medallist Tatjana Schoenmaker won her heat in 1:07.10 and the 200m bronze medallist Kaylene Corbett finished second in her heat in 1:08.12. All three qualified for the semi-finals in first, second and eight, respectively

Women’s 800m freestyle, heats: Michaela Pulford finished fourth in her heat in 8:48.84 and qualified for the final seventh-fastest qualifier
