Gym Games is returning to Gauteng this September
IT’S GYM GAMES TIME!!!!
Gymnastics South Africa's highly anticipated annual National Championships, Gym Games, is returning to Gauteng this September. Thousands of gymnasts from all 9 Provinces will converge in the Gauteng Province.
Taking place across three different venues between 29 September and 7 October, Gym Games will bring together over 2 500 gymnasts competing in eight gymnastics disciplines.
"This event is more than just a national competition, it's a celebration of the ongoing growth and evolution of South African gymnastics," says Donny Jurgens, President of Gymnastics South Africa. "Gym Games is by far the highlight in our annual calendar. It is the dream of every gymnast to showcase their talents for all of South Africa to see. There will be fresh faces and emerging stars to watch out for this year. Some gymnasts have recently performed in international and continental events over the last few months, such as our Women and Men’s Artistic teams, Rhythmic Gymnasts and Rope Skippers, to name a few. Others have their sights set on World Championships and the Olympic Games. “
The three venues for Gym Games are Matsport Centre, Joni Bach Centre, and WITS. Each venue is set to host specific disciplines, ensuring an exciting experience for family and friends who have travelled to support their favourite gymnasts.
“Each of our three venues is packed with a busy schedule of events,” adds Caron Henry, Participation Manager at Gymnastics South Africa. “Matsport Centre will showcase Men's Artistic, Women's Artistic, Acrobatics and Parkour. The Rhythmic gymnastics competition will take place at the WITS Old Mutual Sports Hall, while Trampoline, Rope Skipping, and Aerobic gymnastics competitions will take place at the Joni Bach Centre.”
“As always, spectator entry to the event is free, and we would like to extend a warm invitation to the public to attend and show support for these incredible gymnasts. Don't miss out on this incredible opportunity to witness South Africa's rising gymnastic stars in action,” adds Henry.
For those unable to attend in person, Gym Games 2023 will be live-streamed on SuperSport Schools. Details regarding the broadcast will be announced closer to the time.
Full event programmes will be made available on the Gymnastics South Africa website closer to the event days. Please visit https://gymnasticssa.co.za/
