2022 South African Hockey IPT finalists finalized
IPT 2022 | These are your final fantastic two.
The penultimate day of the 2022 South African Hockey IPT saw all semi-finals take place and the identity of the eventual champions be cut down to just two possibilities.
Womens A Section
Northern Blues vs. SA Under 21
The hosts secured a spot in the final after a tantalising battle that was a titanic arm wrestle which despite a number of penalty corners and chances neither team was able to convert and the identity of the finalists would be decided in a shootout. The hosts scored three of their four which ultimately sent them to the final and a chance to win the title they won in 2019.
Western Province vs. Southern Gauteng
Western Province saw the energetic and exciting Malikah Hamza score twice and Nicole Koenig added in a superb display of precision and control. They were pegged back at 2-0 by Nicky Veto but they consistently looked to trouble the defending champions and secured their own victory to ensure a chance to win their first IPT title since 2011.
FINAL - 16:00 @ TUT - Northern Blues vs. Western Province

KZN Raiders vs. SA Under 21
The two sides had drawn their group stage encounter. The youthful exuberance of the U21 or the wily experience of the Raiders. The Raiders struck first when Taylor Kelly-Stack converted a penalty stroke after the penalty corner struck the body on the line. But a Mustapha Cassiem rocket levelled matters. The game really saw nothing separate the two sides but with 1 minute left on the clock Jethro Eustice played a clever slip and Ross Hetem finished to book a spot in the final for the 2018 winners.
Southern Gauteng vs. Western Province
In a repeat of the 2019 Final that was decided by a shootout, the defending champions played the only team with a 100% record in the tournament after four days. It was Western Province who struck first. A good combination saw Luthando Jonas on the end of a good team move. He almost created the second when his counter saw the ball strike the post from Idris Abdulla. It was two through Connor Beauchamp though. Pautz pulled one back through a stroke, but Beauchamp nailed another that looked to keep the champions in the hunt to defend their crown.
FINAL - 18:00 @ TUT - KZN Raiders vs. Western Province

North West continued in their approach of being the only team to score in their games. Today they hit their 40th unanswered goal of the tournament as they marched their way into the final. They were probably surprised at who they will be facing as SACD’s produced an outstanding surprise against the Daisies. They scored in the first minute and then defended like champions to secure a final spot.
FINAL - 16:00 @ Eldoraigne - North West vs. SA Country Districts
Mens B Section
Two teams had won four out of four and they quickly made it five out of five in differing circumstances. WP Pens dismissed the SACD challenge fairly easily with Nicholas Giger getting a brace in a 5-1 win. KZN Mynahs had to work far harder for their victory as they trailed by 1 with five minutes remaining but won thanks to a Tyler Tomsett double.
FINAL - 16:00 @ Sutherland - KZN Mynahs vs. WP Peninsula
