Botha & van Vuren reach 50 finishes from 50 starts
While Red-Lined Motorsport is clearly over the moon with its maiden REVO victory in Dragon Energy crew Chris Visser and Albertus Venter’s capable and experienced hands, many believe that the team’s main feather in its recent Nampo 800 weekend cap, was an even bigger one.
Penta crew Philip Botha and Roelof Janse van Vuren successfully finished their fiftieth consecutive rally raid racing stage since their debut in 2020. The Penta Boys have remarkably finished every single kilometre of the 12,500 that they have taken on over 50 stages of racing in their Red-Lined VK50 and VK56 racers in just over two years of competition.
“What can I say?” Philip Botha asked. “We are lost for words! “Finishing every one of our first fifty stages and 20 races on the trot is not just a great achievement, but it is also huge testament to the Red-Lined teams’ meticulous preparation, management, and execution.
“Roelof and I are eternally indebted to Terence and every man and woman in this wonderful family-oriented team. “It’s been an amazing adventure and we’ve enjoyed every second and every kilometre of the 12,500km ride to date.”
“Philip and Roelof have been incredibly consistent, steady and ever more competitive on their way to this remarkable record,” Red-Lined team principal Terence Marsh explained.
“It has been an incredible achievement from a team perspective and not one I think we will easily see again into the future.”
“It may not yet be over, and it obviously cannot go on forever, but it will be a while before anyone ever achieves this kind of finishing rate again, so long may it last. “Well done guys and thanks once again to our incredible technical and support crew for making it possible for the Penta boys to pull this incredible record off.”
