Double stint Mokoena stars in Port Elizabeth

Kyalami kid Kwanda Mokoena continued to impress with another splendid South African Endurance Series showing in Port Elizabeth over the weekend. Mokoena was forced to take a challenging double stint after his teammate fell ill, doing the lion’s share of the driving on the day.

Teammate, Kwanda’s uncle Tschops Sipuka qualified the Amandla Coal MJR Audi R8 LMS GT4 seventh in a hotly contested weekend at Aldo Scribante. Kwanda took the first stint, outgunning the Lategan and Tavares Porsche off the line to turn one, before disappearing into the distance.

“It was a hard three-hour stint before I handed the car over to uncle Tschops,” Kwanda pointed out. “But Tschops, unfortunately, fell ill, and he came back again. “So, I had to take the car over for the last two hours, which was awesome!

“I enjoyed a great stint and got into the lead, but my Audi suffered a front puncture which cost us two laps.” Tschops had recovered enough to take the wheel for the last hour, and we took second in race two.”

Young Mokoena has continued to impress, taking a double SA Endurance Series win alongside uncle Sipuka in Port Elizabeth last time out, and then showing great mettle with this tough double stint in Port Elizabeth. Watch this space Kwanda is going places!
