Leading automotive lubricant brand Motul had a noticeable presence at the Killarney Motor Show on Sunday, 30th October. The Motor Show was Motul’s first major brand showcase in the province and provided an opportunity to expand product awareness amongst local consumers, while also supporting Motul’s many regional partners.

The “Motul Garage” activation area showcased the brand’s products in a fun and engaging way, with the technical team on hand to talk fans through the finer points of the core range of motoring lubricants, Car Care products and additives. Another major reason to visit the stand was the presence of the multi-race-winning and record-breaking Gould GR55 driven by South African gentleman racer, André Bezuidenhout.  This car earned its legendary status at the Simola Hillclimb, where Bezuidenhout broke his own record during the 2022 event completing the fastest lap of 34.161 seconds, making it his fifth ‘King of the Hill’ victory in the Single Seaters & Sports Car section at Simola. With the aid of Motul lubricants, the Gould (derived from Formula 1) maintained an average speed of 200.228km/h during this year’s Hillclimb.

Alongside the Gould on the Motul stand was a racing Porsche 911 RSR in Martini colours, courtesy of Laude Classic Cars, as well as Wentzel Motor Works' Porsche 997 Turbo. Fans also got to see a Juno Endurance racer from Rico Barlow Racing and had the chance to admire three of Stoos Customs motorcycles and meet the man behind the magic, Alex Stoos himself.

“With three of our latest handcrafted builds on display: The Vanguard (a donor bike which was originally a 2015 Indian Scout), The Thumper (a donor bike which was once a 2017 Triumph Bobber) and The Scoundrel (a donor bike which started life as a 2021 BMW R18), visitors could see our workmanship up close,” commented Alex Stoos. “Overall, the event was a great success and it was super to see some familiar faces and meet so many new and engaged ‘petrol heads’,” he added.

As an extension of the Motul Garage stand, attendees also had the chance to see (and a few brave fans got to participate in) Brian Capper’s thrilling trials bike demo. XS Promotions got the blood pumping by burning rubber on the track, while Chris Long a.k.a SomeDriftGuy and the BMW E36 Club put their high-performance vehicles through their paces.

Motul’s regional partners highlighted the practical applications of the superior lubricants with Goch and Cooper displaying the MotulEvo automatic transmission fluid flush system and highlighted the capabilities of the 300V Motorsport range of synthetic lubricants, while Laude Classic Cars exhibited the Motul Classic Range alongside their popular historic vehicles.

“We were delighted to have had the chance to make our mark on the Killarney Motor Show and on the Western Cape region. It was a wonderful opportunity to support our partners and engage with automotive fans from across the Western Cape,” commented Mercia Jansen, Motul Area Manager for Southern and Eastern Africa. “Following on from the opening of our Western Cape office in 2021, this is further proof that Motul is here to stay in what is one of South Africa’s most important automotive areas,” she added.

“It was an immense privilege to share this experience with so many of our partners,” commented Juan Wentzel, Motul Western Cape Representative. “I’m confident that local motorsport fans will be convinced of Motul’s commitment to this area, and I’d like to thank them for making this such a special event,” he added.
