In an electrifying showdown at the Sunfest Multi-Sporting Festival in Centurion this past weekend, Joshua Jesse Chetty, widely known in the ring as "Joshua the Bull", faced off against Johannesburg’s rising star, Chris Kotze, in a fierce battle for the WAW Sunfest Cup.

Chetty, who walked into the match as the reigning WAW Sunfest Champion, admitted that his focus may have shifted in the lead-up to the match.
"My eyes were set on the WWP/WAW All African Championship. Even though I was the WAW Sunfest Champion, I wanted more gold and I wanted a belt around my waist. The focus on that championship actually made me lose focus," Chetty shared after the bout.
The match took place at one of South Africa’s premier wrestling events, the Sunfest Sporting Festival, one of the two marquee showcases for the World Association of Wrestling South Africa (WAWSA), alongside WrestleMonster. Just weeks prior, Chetty had secured a significant victory against "The Ripper" at WrestleMonster 7, cementing his dominance in the local wrestling scene.
But on this day, Chris Kotze had other plans.
Known for his relentless drive and strategic prowess, Kotze took full advantage of an unexpected moment in the match. In a critical turning point, Chetty attempted a signature Spear, but Kotze dodged, causing Chetty to accidentally take out the referee. Kotze quickly capitalized on the chaos, employing questionable tactics to secure the pin and snatch the WAW Sunfest Cup.

"Chris Kotze is a tough opponent in the ring. He’s a rising star in the South African wrestling circuit and even won his match at WrestleMonster 7," Chetty acknowledged. "I’m not done with him yet. We will meet again."
Despite the setback, Chetty remains focused on his larger goal, the coveted WWP/WAW All-African Championship.
"Now I have a very big mountain to climb. But I am all set. I’m aiming for bigger gold."
As fans eagerly await the next chapter in this heated rivalry, one thing is clear: Joshua the Bull is far from finished.
