Roland Garros 2023 : Winning start for Kgothatso Montjane


South African wheelchair tennis sensation Kgothatso Montjane began her Roland Garros campaign in remarkable fashion, delivering a flawless performance against Japanese player Manami Tanaka in their first-round match on Tuesday in Paris. The victory saw Montjane sweep past Tanaka without losing a single game, firmly establishing her dominance on the court.

Currently ranked No. 8 in the world, Montjane needed only 49 minutes to triumph over Tanaka, who holds the seventh spot in the world rankings, 6-0, 6-0. This win extended her impressive winning streak against the Japanese player to 5-0 in their head-to-head series.

Looking ahead, Montjane now sets her sights on the second round, where she will face another formidable opponent from Japan, Momoko Ohtani, ranked No. 4, who currently leads their head-to-head series with a 4-1 advantage.
