Le Clos spearheads SA challenge in Budapest
Chad le Clos has been included in the team to represent South Africa at the FINA World Championships for a seventh time. Swimming South Africa announced the squad that will compete at the event in Budapest from 18 June to 3 July 2022 with Le Clos leading the charge along with several young guns who will be competing at their first world championships.

SA Hockey Women for Commonwealth Games 2022
In 50 Days’ time Team South Africa begin their Commonwealth Games challenge in Birmingham. The games initially awarded to Durban will be the 22nd hosting of the multi-sport event and the 7th staging of field hockey at the event.
South Africa have competed in every event along with Australia, Canada, England, India, New Zealand and Scotland, with a best finish of 4th in 2010 and 2014. New Zealand are the defending champions having stunned Australia in the event in 2018 on the Gold Coast.

There were two fourth-place finishes in the finals on a day when all three Team SA swimmers in action broke South African and African records at the 2022 World Para Swimming Championships in Madeira, Portugal.
Kat Swanepoel came within 0.10 of a second of dipping under the one-minute barrier when she twice broke the SA and African records in the women’s SB3 50m breaststroke.

Team SA’s medals tally at the World Para Swimming Championships in Madeira, Portugal doubled to four on Wednesday night as Cornelle Leach and Kat Swanepoel both picked up bronze medals.

Christian Sadie came close to earning Team SA’s fifth medal of the World Para Swimming Championships on Thursday night in Madeira, Portugal, but had to settle for a fourth-place finish in the men’s S7 50m butterfly.

The 19th FINA World Championships are under way in Budapest, Hungary. In action on Tuesday morning were Clayton Jimmie in the 100m freestyle, Matthew Sates in the 200m IM and Olivia Nel in the 50m backstroke. Sates finished second in his heat and qualified for the semi-finals, but Jimmie and Nel were eliminated in the heats. Chad Le Clos has withdrawn from the remainder of the Championships.

The 19th FINA World Championships are under way in Budapest, Hungary. In action on Wednesday morning was Emma Chelius in the 100m freestyle where she swam a 55.39 for 22nd fastest from the heats. In action in the evening is Matthew Sates, in the 200m IM final.
