South African Sailing's 75th-anniversary celebration aims to be the largest sailing event in Africa
A massive boating extravaganza will set sail this month as South African Sailing celebrates the 75th anniversary of organised sailing in the country.
In keeping with the 75-year celebration, the goal is to attract more than 750 yachts, more than 7500 participants and more than 75 000 social media hits using the hashtag #SASailing75th.

The South African watersports scene was dominated by South African Sailing’s 75th Anniversary celebrations from 6-21 December.
From a precursor inter-university regatta held at Midmar Dam in KwaZulu-Natal and a dinghy regatta at Zeekoe Vlei Yacht Club all the way through to the end of the SA Sailing Youth National Championships held at Stilbaai Yacht Club on the Vaal Dam, sailing was celebrated throughout the country.

28 April 2023 – SA Sailing have hailed the efforts of solo South African sailor Kirsten Neuschäfer, who made history on Thursday night by becoming the first woman to win the prestigious Golden Globe round-the-world race.
Neuschäfer was the only female sailor to contest the race which required competitors to circumnavigate the globe without the use of modern technology or the benefit of satellite-based navigation aids.
