South Africa continued their FIH Pro League participation with a game against England today at the Lee Valley Hockey Stadium. The South Africans were without a number of players that form the nucleus of the squad, but the opportunity presented itself for players to work their way into the Commonwealth Games, FIH Nations Cup or even the FIH Hockey World Cup teams in the next 9 months.

South Africa and England met for their second FIH Pro League encounter at the Lee Valley Hockey & Tennis Club in London today. England were looking to continue their good run of form which had seen them win three in succession, while the South Africans were desperate for at least a better start and to take the competition a bit further as the classroom of the Pro League continues to dish out hard lessons for the African champions.

Mondli Khumalo was brutally attacked and sustained a serious head injury in the early hours of the morning on Sunday 29th May in Bridgwater.
Mondli is currently in critical condition in the ICU in Southmead hospital in Bristol after having undergone surgery.
Mondli is a much loved member of the North Petherton cricket club were he is playing as their overseas professional. He is the nicest person you will meet.

2023 Over-50s World Cup, to be held in Cape Town, South Africa from March 6–20
The dates and teams for the 2023 Over-50s World Cup, to be held in Cape Town, South Africa from March 6–20, have been confirmed.
All 12 teams that participated in the 2020 edition of the tournament – which was sadly curtailed by COVID-19 after just two-and-a-half matches – will return in 2023 and will be joined by newcomers the United States and the United Arab Emirates.
The Opening Ceremony will be held on March 5 before the first round of matches takes place on March 6.

In 50 Days’ time Team South Africa begin their Commonwealth Games challenge in Birmingham. The games initially awarded to Durban will be the 22nd hosting of the multi-sport event and the 7th staging of field hockey at the event.
