The final straight towards the Paris Olympics began in earnest for the South African Women’s Hockey team in Cape Town. On the day that USA, Germany, Spain and Belgium secured their places at the Olympics, South Africa were beginning a six-test battle against Olympic Hosts France at SACS in the Western Cape.

Following the completion of the FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifying tournaments in Ranchi, Valencia and Muscat, the FIH have announced the Olympic Pools for Paris 2024.
In the men’s tournament South Africa will compete for the sixth time and make a second consecutive appearance. They earned their spot with a tight 2-1 win over Egypt in the African Hockey Road to Paris tournament.
Swimming | Olympic Places On The Line For SA Divers And Open Water Swimmers
A team of 49 open water swimmers, divers, water polo players and artistic swimmers will represent South Africa at the World Aquatics Championships starting in Doha, Qatar today, 2 February.
They’ll be joined by the pool swimmers late next week, with the swimming competition only scheduled to kick off from 11-18 February.
