A sell out crowd at the Wynberg Military Base welcomed the opening of the second edition of the Nkosi Cup and they were not disappointed as the favourites took home victories in all three games.
Namibia Women, the defending champions of the Nkosi Cup, arrived at the tournament today and produced two nail biting performances to open their account with a full house. In the mens tournament it was South Africa, the defending champions, who produced a remarkable come from behind win against Namibia.
The third day of the 2024 indoor hockey Nkosi Cup saw the tournament complete the group stage in the mens tournament, while the womens tournament saw the two finalists secured despite a couple of group stage games remaining.
South Africa and Namibia will once again meet in the Men’s and Women’s finals of the Nkosi Indoor Hockey Cup after triumphing through their semi-finals and group stages respectively.
Both South Africa men and Namibia women came into the tournament as defending champions, they leave it as champions again. Winning the titles against their African counterparts in the Nkosi Cup Finals.
