There were two fourth-place finishes in the finals on a day when all three Team SA swimmers in action broke South African and African records at the 2022 World Para Swimming Championships in Madeira, Portugal.
Kat Swanepoel came within 0.10 of a second of dipping under the one-minute barrier when she twice broke the SA and African records in the women’s SB3 50m breaststroke.
The 34-year-old Tokyo Paralympian finished fourth in the evening final in 1min 00.10sec, only 0.45sec off winning the bronze medal....

The Proteas Bowls squad to play at the 2022 Commonwealth Games has been confirmed with a number of new faces in the mix.
The Women's team will once again be spearheaded by Colleen Piketh, who is no stranger to the competition at the highest level having represented South Africa at four previous editions of the "Friendly Games".

Kat Swanepoel’s remarkable form continued when she posted two more South African and African records at the World Para Swimming Championships in Madeira, Portugal on Monday.

Team SA’s medals tally at the World Para Swimming Championships in Madeira, Portugal doubled to four on Wednesday night as Cornelle Leach and Kat Swanepoel both picked up bronze medals.

20 June 2022 – Banyana Banyana coach Desiree Ellis has announced the final 23-woman squad to represent South Africa at the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations in Morocco from 2-23 July 2022.

SA Hockey reappoints Lenise Marais as SA Women’s U21 Head Coach
South African Hockey have today announced Lenise Marais has been appointed to continue on with the work she has done with the SA Under 21 Women’s team, including leading them to the first ever African based Hockey World Cup. Her appointment is until the conclusion of the 2023 FIH Junior World Cup.

The 19th FINA World Championships are under way in Budapest, Hungary. In action on Monday morning was Brendan Crawford in the 50m breaststroke and Chad Le Clos in the 200m butterfly. Le Clos was entered in his heat in lane six but didn’t appear at the starting blocks, while Crawford was unable to qualify for the semi-finals (fastest 16).

FINA World Championships: Team SA update (Day 4)
The 19th FINA World Championships are under way in Budapest, Hungary. In action on Tuesday morning were Clayton Jimmie in the 100m freestyle, Matthew Sates in the 200m IM and Olivia Nel in the 50m backstroke. Sates finished second in his heat and qualified for the semi-finals, but Jimmie and Nel were eliminated in the heats. Chad Le Clos has withdrawn from the remainder of the Championships.

SA Hockey U21 Squads Announced
South African Hockey has today announced the SA U21 Squads selected on the back of the recent U21 IPT that took place in the Eastern Cape. The squads are the first groups toward the respective 2023 FIH Junior World Cup.
Both sides performed admirably in the most recent tournaments with the SA U21 Men finishing in 9th place in India, the best-ever finish for the SA U21 Hockey Men, while the SA U21 Women finished 7th in the first-ever African-hosted Hockey World Cup.

FINA World Championships: Team SA update (Day 5)
The 19th FINA World Championships are under way in Budapest, Hungary. In action on Wednesday morning was Emma Chelius in the 100m freestyle where she swam a 55.39 for 22nd fastest from the heats. In action in the evening is Matthew Sates, in the 200m IM final.
“I keep reminding him that the focus is Birmingham [Commonwealth Games]. If we can get close to the 1:57.43 he swam in Monaco [at the Mare Nostrum series], I will be happy,” said his coach Wayne Riddin.
