HUGE Shout Out to Sean Paxton in winning the BSI Premier Division Cycle 3 72-hole Championship, with scores of 70, 70, 66, 71 (-11) at Royal Johannesburg East and West Courses from 13-15 September. Sean’s consistent form saw him go under par in all four rounds.  Even so, he was only 1 shot ahead with 4 holes to play, such is the high standard of the BSI tournaments these days. Tiaan van Wyk appointed as Assistant Golf Director at Royal Johannesburg

Huge congratulations to BSI 3rd year PGA Diploma student Tiaan van Wyk, who was appointed as Assistant Golf Director at Royal Johannesburg, even before he has graduated. Tiaan has gained valuable experience working in the industry during his studies, to complement his academic learning on the PGA program. Jacques van der Merwe Adrian Andrade Keisha Kagor Club Championship weekend at Royal Johannesburg is always a special occasion and the club went all out again to put on a fantastic event.  The courses were set up extremely tough and it was wonderful to see our players come through and dominate the high-performance sections. Golf | BSI visits Uganda GC

BSI Founder Michael Balderstone and Mental Coach Mark Fairbank visited Uganda last week to work with their national golf squad on behalf of The R&A and PGA of South Africa. The 3-day training camp at Uganda GC involved 12 talented players who eagerly soaked in all of the knowledge imparted.  Three local coaches also received coaching education as part of the camp.

Jacques van der Merwe Well done to Jacques van der Merwe, for his win in the BSI Premier Division 18-hole medal on Friday 17 May, with a 4-under par 68 played on Royal Johannesburg – East Course. This is Jacques's seventh win for the year and keeps his aim of taking the Order of Merit for the second year in a row still in his sights, as he lies in 2nd place – only 6924 points behind the leader as we approach the halfway mark of the academic year. Gilbert Chalwe Huge congratulations to Gilbert Chalwe, on his excellent 'come from behind' win in the BSI Premier Academy Cycle 2 72-Hole Championship Medal with a score of 1-under 287 on Royal Johannesburg's East and West Courses, played from 18 to 21 June. Gilbert was 9 shots behind going into the Final round and with a faultless 4th round, shot the lowest round of the tournament with a 6-under 66 to take 1st place by a clear 5 shots. College Player of the Month Congratulations to Gilbert Chalwe who was voted as BSI Golf Academy Premier Division Player of the Month for June 2024. Gilbert won one BSI medal tournament, he finished T53 during the Sunshine Tour- Mopani Zambia Open at Nkana Golf Course and is the BSI 72-Hole Champion for Cyle 2.
