BSI Football Academy leading the pack in football development in South Africa

BSI Football welcomed the Wolves Football Academy to Mzansi

The BSI Football Academy and Wolverhampton Wanderers (Wolves) partnership continues to gain credibility and impact in South Africa. Wolves recently sent two coaches to BSI to strengthen the relationship, share knowledge, conduct an experiential training camp, and provide BSI Footballers with exclusive training sessions. Their time at BSI started with a three-day training camp for players ages 8-17. The camp was attended by over 80 players from Botswana, Swaziland, Cape Town, Kimberly, Durban, and around Gauteng and was headed by Wolves academy coach Shawn Briscoe. The camp ran for three days from 30 September to 2 October at the BSI Football Academy in Modderfontein.

Shawn Briscoe: “At the (moment), we’re partnering with BSI, who I’ve been blown away with really with what they do here.”

Community Partnership

On 30 September, The BSI Football Academy was proud to welcome learners from the Ikusasa Lethu Program from St Mary’s School to train with the Wolves FC Academy coaches. Ikusasa Lethu aims to create a space where knowledge, skills, and resources are shared with senior school learners from schools in Alexandra.

The Wolves Foundation provided each student with a replica Wolves FC academy jersey. The BSI partnership with Wolves allowed them to provide the learners with a fantastic experience of being coached by the Wolves Academy coaching staff.

Shawn Briscoe: “Wolverhampton Wanderers is not just a professional club, it’s a huge part of the community, and a part of us is giving back, so coming here, I hope these guys can remember this Wolves experience for the rest of their lives.”

Exclusive BSI Football Academy Camp

From the 03-05 of October, the BSI Football players received exclusive training with the Wolves FC coaches. The coaching sessions included technical and tactical elements based on the Wolves FC coaching philosophy. The coaches also shared the vision, mission, and coaching philosophy with the BSI Football Academy technical team, headed by co-founder and Technical Director, Zeca Marques. The partnership between Wolves and BSI is more than providing camps and training sessions. Knowledge sharing is a cornerstone of the collaboration and will provide the BSI players (current and future) with a unique football development program.

The partnership between BSI and Wolves aims to develop football in Southern Africa. Exciting plans are in the pipeline, with a 2023 training camp and international tour for BSI Football Academy players on the horizon.
