History of Sthembiso
My name is Sthembiso Nkosi and I was born in Paulpietersburg, Kwazulu Natal and I'm living with disability.
I started playing sports in 2013 at Bumbisizwe special school and i was 9 years old .I started playing wheelchair tennis and there was no coach at school but we were training very hard so that we can win the tournaments,it wasn't easy but we really push.
In 2017 the principal introduced Gopolang more the coach of wheelchair tennis and we were so happy to have the coach and i started to improve on wheelchair tennis and coach Gopolang was coaching every sport at school even if he wasn't payed for doing so and that is where i fell in love with wheelchair basketball.
I moved to Adelaide Tambo school in 2019 because i was going to do grade 8 and i didn't stop playing sport i continued with it. I improved at Adelaide Tambo because they give us more game time and tournaments. I continued until this year (2024) where i got the club to play for which is SPARTANS but i play for team Band. In April i was called to participate in the wheelchair basketball under23 trials...and i am really happy that I was selected to be in the National Team.
