Another strong Ginetta points haul for Alibhai

Johannesburg young gun race driver Aqil Alibhai quite literally hit a six in the weekend’s Knockhill, Scotland seventh round Michelin Ginetta Junior races over the weekend. Alibhai qualified his yellow Elite Motorsports Ginetta in tenth place on Saturday morning before racing to sixth place in each of the three races.

“I had a decent weekend in Scotland with some really great battles on the Knockhill track,” Aqil reported. “It quite literally felt like I was stuck in sixth, but that’s where I ended up in all three heats! “The first race was good – I climbed up four places for that sixth and race 2 was OK considering I had some power issues, but I managed sixth again. “In the final I ended fifth on track, but I took a track limit penalty and finished up sixth again!

“All in all it was a good weekend in Scotland. “I fought hard and I’m happy with my performance and my championship still looks alive for a top 3 finish. “So, with 12 races left to race in the last rounds, the objective is to keep on scoring strong points.”

The tight and twisty old-school Snetterton circuit in Norfolk England is South African Aqil and his Ginetta Junior rivals’ next racing appointment over the weekend of 13-14 July.
