Equestrian | Treverton College Riders compete in the African Shield Cup in Namibia

On Thursday, 11 July 2024, K’li Scott and Claudia Garella of the Treverton Equestrian Centre embarked on an equestrian journey to Windhoek, Namibia.

Claudia Garella and Kli Scott

Both representing South Africa, K’li as a rider on two horses in the South African Adult Shield Team, and Claudia Garella as the Chef d’equipe of the South African Adult & Junior Shield teams.

Embarking on an equestrian journey for one’s country as part of a team is not just about horse riding or competing, it's a personal odyssey of growth, learning, and accomplishment that one gets to experience with one’s horse.

Claudia and K’li, loaded two very important South African team members into the horse box on the 11 July 2024, Casrix’s Dianthus Amurensis and Iron Horse Feed’s star of Joburg, and started their trip to Windhoek. The 2500km to Windhoek was travelled over four days, giving the horses time for rest and exercise.

19 July 2024, the spectacular, African Shield Cup, Eventing Show, in Windhoek commenced, concluding with the team parade on Sunday, 21 July 2024.

The two South African shield teams, were phenomenal, the Junior team bringing home the Silver and the Adult team placing fourth.

Kli Scott with Dianthus 5

Our K’li Scott rode exceptionally well, we are incredibly proud of her! On Casrix’s Dianthus Amurensis, she went clear in her cross country and Showjumping, finishing on her dressage score, resulting in her bringing home the individual silver overall, adult runner up overall, & silver individual adult. On Iron horse feeds Star of Joburg, the pair were lying third after a brilliant cross country round, taking an unfortunate two poles in the showjumping, placing this combination in ninth place overall. Congratulations K’li and these two beautiful horses on all that you achieved for South Africa.

Further congratulations go to the other South African riders and horses for also taking on this journey and representing our beautiful country.

Thank-you to the host Nation, Namibia & Namibian Equestrian Federation, Kaaps Stables, South African Equestrian Federation, African Shield and Eventing South Africa, for this opportunity and wonderful event.
