Long Beach, Kommetjie - Luc and Louise Lepront (Scottburgh) won their respective U18 divisions at the Sea Harvest Cape Crown surfing tournament in great conditions over the weekend.
Goofy-footer (right foot forward) Luc put on some excellent surfing in the U18 Boys to beat Simon Winter (Kom) into second, with Matt Canning (DBN) in third and Levi Kolnik (Kom) in fourth. In the U18 Girls, Louise Lepront, another goofy-footer who placed third in the ISA World Games held in El Salvador in May, took out Emily Jenkinson (Kom) in 2nd, Anastasia Venter (JBay) in 3rd, and Sarah Scott (Kom) in 4th. Louise won with high-performance surfing, which has seen her win many events in recent months on the South African Surf Tour.
Louise then went on to take the double and win the U16 division from Emily Jenkinson (Kom) in 2nd, her sister Leah Lepront in 3rd, and Camilla Heuer (EL) in 4th
"I am so thankful to my family and all the people who support me and sponsor me in these events," said Louise at prizegiving. "It means so much to me."

After her third-place finish in the U16 Girls division, Leah Lepront also placed second in her U14 Girls division, close behind the winner, Camilla Heuer, with Jasmine Venter (JBay) in 3rd and Charlotte Copson (Kom) in 4th. Heuer had an excellent final and showed fine form throughout the contest.
In good but windy conditions, the U12 Girls battled to get into position, fighting big sets and a low tide current. Still, Brin Jarvis (CSF) emerged as the winner, while Ethan Schermbrucker (Kom) won the U12 Boys division with a spirited performance at his home break.
Ben Esterhuyse (CT) was the U14 Boys' champion, beating Slayde Shooter to second place. Asbjorn Gwenin (Kom) won the ultra-competitive U16 Boys' division from Kieran Murphy (Llandudno).
