Sates and Le Clos set sights on FINA World Cup
Matt Sates, last year’s FINA World Cup MVP with 18 medals, was unveiled as part of FINA’s “elite eight’’ that will be competing in this year’s World Cup in Berlin in October.
The 19-year-old Sates has been earmarked as an immense swimming talent, bagging medals and awards throughout 2021, and has continued this trajectory well into 2022.
Sates was in red-hot form during FINA’s 2021 World Cup series, closing-off the final leg in Kazan with four medals, a feat that would see the Pietermaritzburg star wrap-up the overall title.

SA K1 – Birkett and Hartley win at the Fish
Andy Birkett and Bridgitte Hartley were crowned SA K1 River champions after wrapping up victories in the men’s and women’s races at the 40th Fish River Canoe Marathon on Saturday.
A week after he won the world marathon title, Birkett showed his class and form as he added another four minutes to his overnight lead as he posted a flawless final stage to claim the title.

7 October 2022 – The South African Football Association (SAFA) is deeply saddened by the passing of sporting activist Cheryl Roberts.
