WrestleMonster, WAWSA’s premier wrestling spectacle, was nothing short of electrifying! The event also featured the WWP Legends Awards—an emotional tribute to the legends of South African wrestling.

Honourees included iconic names like “The French Monster” Thierry Middoux, The Blacksmith (Trevor Van Der Westhuizen), The Butcher, Tornado (Steve Debbes), Mr. Wrestling, Mark Beale, and even international superstar Joe E. Legend from Canada.
The WAW/WWP World Heavyweight Championship was officially vacated due to the unfortunate diagnosis of lymphoma cancer for Mr. Wrestling. With the title up for grabs, the main event saw ex-WWE superstar Joe E. Legend face off against hometown hero TJ Tremor. In a thrilling showdown, TJ Tremor emerged victorious, becoming both the WAW/WWP World Heavyweight Champion and the WAW/WWP All-African Heavyweight Champion.
TJ Tremor has had an incredible run recently, competing in 57 matches in just three months during his 2023 tour of England. He even went toe-to-toe with former WWE star James Storm at Fightmare—the UK’s biggest annual wrestling event, held in Norwich.
My Match: A No-Holds-Barred Battle Against The Ripper
My match at WrestleMonster was a war. I faced "The Ripper"—a monstrous force from parts unknown, known for his brutal and underhanded style. From the moment the bell rang, The Ripper launched into dirty tactics—cheap shots, low blows, and relentless attacks on my left leg.
Despite the punishment, I refused to back down. Even after he grabbed a baseball bat and tried to take me out, I stayed focused. At one point, he went for a wild swing, but I dodged—he struck the rope, and the bat ricocheted back, hitting him square in the head. That was my moment. I hit him with a massive Spear and sealed the victory.
The match was so intense, it caught the attention of international referee Jhonny Puttini from Italy, who also officiated several matches that night (though not mine). His presence added an international flair to the already star-studded lineup.
A Global Roster
WrestleMonster also featured a powerhouse lineup of talent from across the globe and South Africa, including:
- “The French Sensation” Zizou Middoux
- Pietermaritzburg’s own Matthew Hammer
- Ananzi
- Rian Lombard, internationally known as Ryan Cage, who has competed in the U.S. and fights in the EFC (Extreme Fighting Championship)
- And, of course, ex-WWE superstar Joe E. Legend
Home-Turf Energy
Wrestling at WrestleMonster felt like performing in my own backyard, thanks to the overwhelming support from the incredible fans of Nelson Mandela Bay. Thousands turned up to witness the action, and their energy powered me through one of the toughest matches of my 15-year career.
I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported me, cheered me on, and believed in me. Wrestling in Nelson Mandela Bay was an unforgettable experience—and winning against The Ripper in a no-disqualification match at Africa’s biggest wrestling event made it all the more special.
