PRETORIA, SOUTH AFRICA - Cornwall Hill College in Irene will host the 2025 Men's South African Country Districts Hockey Tournament from June 29 to July 5, 2025. The prestigious event brings together the country's top regional hockey talent under the organisation of the Northern Blues Country Districts Hockey Association.
South African Hockey is proud to confirm the national coaching appointments for the Indoor Men and Women’s teams through to the conclusion of the FIH Indoor Hockey World Cup in 2029, marking a key step in the continued growth of the indoor game.
The FIH Nations Cup 2 came to a close in disappointing fashion for the South African Women, who were edged by Malaysia in a shootout after a 1-1 draw in the 7th-place playoff. Having beaten the same opponents earlier in the tournament, the result was a bitter pill to swallow for the African champions.
South Africa’s pursuit of a stronger finish at the inaugural FIH Nations Cup 2 was dealt a blow on Saturday morning as they went down 1-0 to Czechia in the 5–8th place playoff in Walcz. It was a match marked by frustration for the South Africans, who dominated the second half but were left to rue missed opportunities and the brilliance of Czech goalkeeper Anna Linkova.
It was a disappointment for the South Africans as, despite more possession and large amounts of control, it was Japan who emerged victorious 2-1 after trailing 1-0 at half time.
South Africa were left ruing missed chances as Malaysia capitalized on key moments to seal a 4-2 victory in the 5–8 playoff bracket at the FIH Nations Cup 2025 in Kuala Lumpur on Friday morning.
