The BSI Football Academy is proud to confirm the 4th edition of the annual BSI Ubungani Cup, an elite U21 year-end youth football festival, set to take place on Sunday, December 1st 2024, at the BSI Football Campus in Founders Hill Modderfontein.
This year’s tournament promises to be a spectacle, bringing together six of South Africa’s top youth football clubs and academies:
- Orlando Pirates
- Supersport United
- Sekhukhune United
- University of Johannesburg (UJ)
- TS Galaxy
- BSI Football Academy
The stakes are high as these talented young players have prepared throughout the year to come and compete for the coveted title of being crowned the BSI Ubungani Cup Champions. Among the returning participants are Orlando Pirates and the University of Johannesburg, Champions of the 2021 edition who are most likely aiming to reclaim their throne.
Over the years, the BSI Ubungani Cup has been a Launchpad for some of South Africa’s brightest football stars. Notably, former Mamelodi Sundowns attacking midfielder Cassius Mailula, now shining on the international stage with Toronto FC in the MLS, a marvel who once graced the tournament with his unwavering talent.
The BSI Ubungani Cup is more than just a football tournament. It is a curated platform designed to:
- Bridge pathways for emerging players to progress and transition to professional football.
- Foster holistic networks among scouts, coaches, and key and influential stakeholders in the football industry.
- Promote continuous player development, both on and off the pitch.
