    WAYDE VAN NIEKERK SHINES IN 400M HEATS AT WORLD CHAMPS Wayde van Niekerk displayed the best form he has shown in some time, cruising to a convincing victory in his 400m heat on Day 3 of the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon on Sunday. World Athletics Championships: How SA Fared (Day 2) Team SA’s Akani Simbine finished fifth in the men’s 100m final at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon in 10.01sec. The gold medal was won by Fred Kerley of the United States in 9.86. Silver went to Marcion Braxy (US) in 9.88 and bronze to another American, Trayvon Bromell, also with 9.88. Simbine had qualified for the final by winning his semi-final in 9.97, which was the fastest qualifying time heading into the final.
