JOHANNESBURG – February 7, 2025 – The clock is ticking for runners and walkers to secure their spot in the highly anticipated Sappi TuksRace, set to take place on Saturday, 15 February. 2025 Sappi TuksRace

This year, the race welcomes Sappi as the new title sponsor, bringing its passion for health and fitness to the streets of Pretoria. Hosted by TuksSport, TuksAthletics, and the University of Pretoria (UP), the race starts and finishes at the UP Hillcrest Sporting Complex in Hatfield, offering a vibrant atmosphere for competitive runners, casual joggers, and families alike.

With a history of supporting mountain biking and trail running races across Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal, Sappi is excited to extend its reach to Pretoria, home to the Sappi Technology Centre, which will also host the 18 km water point on the half marathon route.

A Race for Everyone!

The Sappi TuksRace caters to all fitness levels, with four race distances:

  • 21 km Half Marathon – A perfect test for distance runners
  • 10 km Race – Fast and competitive
  • 5 km Fun Run – A great option for social runners
  • 1 km Fun Run – Ideal for beginners, kids, and families

With many athletes using the race as a pre-Comrades Marathon training run, the event promises a strong and competitive field while also offering a fun and festive experience for casual participants. Runners will be able to test their endurance up the Kings Highway’s 300m stretch with a 7.5% gradient.

To keep participants cool, calm and hydrated, the race supplies 40,000 water sachets, nearly 2,000 litres of cola, 140 solid 28kg blocks of ice, and 26,000 cups. The race organisers also encourage runners and walkers to carry their own water.

People will still have the opportunity to register at the venue, as stated in the race flyer, on 13 and 14 February, between 17:00 – 19:00, as well as on race day from 04:00 until 10 minutes before the start of the race.
